About Me

How it all started .......

In November 1999 my boyfriend Andy, recently qualified as a BSAC Club Diver, went to the Red Sea for a diving holiday onboard a liveaboard for a week. He came back singing it's praises and laden with photos. He also brought back a video of them diving, recorded by an onboard videographer and edited for them to take home. I watched and then I decided, I just had to go there and see it all for myself!

The Training .......

In January 2000 Andy and I decided that we would sign up for the Red Sea trip 2000, planned for late September. This was my deadline to get qualified and get some dives in. Luckily Andy knew a BSAC National Instructor who offered to train me up. My lessons started in January, one evening a week at a local swimming pool where a diving club met. I did my theory lessons first and then my practicals in the pool. By the end of March I had completed all 13 theory lessons. During May and early June I passed my practical assessments and on the 14th June 2000 I qualified as a BSAC Club Diver.

The Future ...........

I've just returned from the Red Sea trip (See the travel section) and am gearing up for the Introduction to Nautical Archaeology course I'll be attending on the 14th October 2000, through the Nautical Archaeology Society based in Portsmouth. In the coming year I'm hoping to get the BSAC Sports Diver qualification.
